About JUNREI Spots

- Collect stamps at six JUNREI locations
- Show your Stamp Rally Booklet at the entrance of each of the six main JUNREI locations and receive their stamps!

- Get a special gift of your JUNREI memories
- When you collect stamps at all six JUNREI locations, you will receive a special bracelet. The bracelet, having been received special prayers, is made with sacred wood from the four temples participating in the event.

This bracelet is made of sacred wood beads from Hasedera Temple, Muroji Temple, Okadera Temple, and Abe Monjuin Temple, the four temples joining the NARA-YAMATO Four Temple Pilgrimage.

- Precautions for joining the Stamp Rally

- If any fraudulent activity is discovered in obtaining stamps, all Omotenashi gifts/services and gift vouchers will be invalidated.
- The rights to receive gifts/services may not be transferred, exchanged for cash, or resold to any third party.
- All stamps will become invalid if the stamp booklet is lost.
- The stamp rally may be changed or canceled without prior notice.

What is “NARA-YAMATO JUNREI Stamp Rally” and how to join
Visit a variety of places in Nara and collect stamps, then, you will receive an “Omotenashi” gift or service at each location.

About “JUNREI Spot”

Hasedera Temple
Hasedera Temple spread across Japan together with the faith in Kannon. Hasedera Temple in Nara is the headquarters temple of all of 3,000 branch Hasedera Temples spread throughout the country. It is the eighth temple of the 33 Sacred Places of the Kannon in the Western Japan. The temple is also known as the “Flower Temple” as a variety of flowers and plants adorn the temple precinct in each season.

Muroji Temple
While Mt. Koya is forbidden to women, Muroji Temple is popularly known as “Mt. Koya for Women” as it’s open to anyone. The temple has long been revered as a sacred place where people worship dragon. Many Buddhist statues including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties are housed in the temple.

Okadera Temple
Since ancient times, this temple has been affectionately called “Okadera,” or the temple on the hill in Asuka. It is also known as the seventh temple of the 33 Sacred Places of the Kannon in the Western Japan. As Okadera Temple is also the first sacred place in Japan for exorcism of bad luck, a number of visitors come here to pray from all over Japan.

Abe Monjuin Temple
The principal Buddhist image of this temple is Monju Bosatsu which was created by the prominent Buddhist sculptor, Kaikei in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). Abe Monjuin Temple is widely known in Japan as a sacred site of Monju worship. The temple is also associated with Abe Seimei (a famous astrologer in the 10th century). Many people visit this sacred place to pray for protection against evil and misfortune.

Nara Prefecture Complex of Man’yo Culture
This is a museum where visitors can see, feel, experience, and learn about ancient culture of Nara, with a focus on the “Man’yoshu” (the earliest anthology of poetry existent in Japan).

Nara Prefecture Historical and Artistic Culture Complex
Visitor’s can observe cultural property restoration studios, artists at work in open studios, and their creations. This multifunctional complex also offers opportunities to experience the culture of Nara through the sale of local agricultural products and crafts, as well as restaurants showcasing the Nara’s pride.

Nara National Museum
Nara National Museum is located inside Nara Park, where Todaiji Temple and Kofukuji Temple are also located, and displays a lot of Buddhist artworks. It conveys the attractive features of excellent fine arts produced through the devotion for Buddhism as well as the rich history and culture behind them to the present.

Omiwa Jinja Shrine
Omiwa Jinja Shrine is one of Japan’s oldest Shinto shrines, enshrining Omononushi Okami, the deity who is believed to have established Japan. With Mt. Miwa itself as the sacred object, the shrine has no main hall. Instead, worshippers venerate the mountain through the Haiden Hall and the sacred Triple Torii behind it, preserving ancient nature worship.

Kinpusenji Temple
Kinpusenji Temple is the head temple of Shugendo, and was registered as part of the world heritage “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.” Since ancient days, it has been known as a spot for viewing cherry blossoms, and its main building called Zaodo (Main Hall) enshrines three concealed statues of Zao Gongen.

Ishibutai Mounded Tomb
Believed to be the tomb of Umako Soga (early 7th century), Ishibutai Mounded Tomb is Japan’s largest square tomb, made of over 30 rocks weighing a total of about 2,300 tons. The ceiling rock alone weighs around 77 tons, showcasing the advanced civil engineering and transport techniques of the time.

Kitora Tumulus Mural Experiential Museum
“Shijin no Yakata”
An interactive museum where visitors can enjoy learning about the Kitora Tumulus and its murals. For limited periods, the actual “Kitora Tumulus Murals” (National Treasure) are exhibited to the public.
